That he described the ablution of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and said: When he performed ablution, he would wipe the corners of his eyes with water. He said: Abū Umāmah said: "The two ears are part of the head." Sulaymān b. Ḥarb said: "The two ears are part of the head" is only the statement of Abū Umāmah, so whoever says other than this has altered it, or he said a word similar to that, meaning he has erred. Ḥammād b. Salamah differed from him: he narrated it from Sinān b. Rabīʿah, from Anas, that the Prophet ﷺ, when he performed ablution, would wash the corners of his eyes with his two fingers, and he did not mention the two ears.

- Dāraquṭnī
machine translationThis is mursal, and it was narrated from him in a connected form from Abū Umāmah, from the Prophet ﷺ, but that is not authentic. Abū Bakr b. Abī Maryam is weak (ḍaʿīf).

machine translationSinān has few hadiths, and I hope that there is no harm in him.

machine translationIt is only from the words of Abū Umāmah; whoever says otherwise has altered it.

machine translationThere is no hadith among them, meaning "the two ears are part of the head", except that it has a defect.

machine translationḤammād b. Zayd narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥīm al-Shammākhī, who was in Syria and was not approved of, narrated it from Sulaymān b. Ḥarb, from Ḥammād b. Zayd, from Abān b. Taghlib, from Shahr, from Asmāʾ bint Yazīd. But the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is from Ḥammād b. Zayd, from Sinān b. Rabīʿah, from Shahr, from Abū Umāmah.
