machine translationThere is disagreement about whether it is connected (mawṣūl) or mursal, and whether it is traced back to the Prophet (marfūʿ) or halted at a Companion (mawqūf). That prevents it from standing up against what is in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2927 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThe soundest view is that it is mursal. Even though it has been transmitted as connected through many routes, all of them are flawed (muʿallal). Some narrators added to it: "He is entitled to its gain and bears its loss." There is disagreement about whether this addition is marfūʿ and whether it is from the words of Ibn al-Musayyab.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 2927 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationIt is the hadith of Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ. Some of them narrate it as mursal from Saʿīd, and some make it his own statement.
