حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ سَنْدَوَيْهِ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَأَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ وَرَجُلٌ يَقْرَأُ خَلْفَهُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَخْتَلِجُ سُورَتَهُمْ فَنَهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ

قوله فنهاهم عن القراءة خلف الإمام وهم من حجاج والصواب ما رواه شعبة وسعيد بن أبي عروبة وغيرهما عن قتادة
machine translationHis statement "so he forbade them from reciting behind the imam" is an error on the part of Ḥajjāj; the correct wording is what Shuʿbah, Saʿīd b. Abī ʿArūbah and others narrated from Qatādah.
