حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ شَاهِدًا لاِبْنِ عُمَرَ، وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ، فَقَالَ: مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ؟ فَقَالَ: مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ. قَالَ: انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا، يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ، وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَسَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «هُمَا رَيْحَانَتَاىَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا».

✧ I was present with Ibn Umar when a man asked him about the blood of mosquitoes. He said, “Where are you from?” He replied, “From the people of Iraq.” He said, “Look at this one: he asks me about the blood of mosquitoes, while they have killed the son of the Prophet ﷺ. I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "They are my two sweet basils in this world."”
