To offer the (funeral) Salat on the grave after the burial of the deceased

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ
أَنَّ أَسْوَدَ رَجُلاً أَوِ امْرَأَةً كَانَ يَقُمُّ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَمَاتَ، وَلَمْ يَعْلَمِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِمَوْتِهِ، فَذَكَرَهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَقَالَ: «مَا فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ الإِنْسَانُ؟» قَالُوا: مَاتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ. قَالَ: «أَفَلاَ آذَنْتُمُونِي؟» فَقَالُوا: إِنَّهُ كَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قِصَّتَهُ. قَالَ: فَحَقَرُوا شَأْنَهُ. قَالَ: «فَدُلُّونِي عَلَى قَبْرِهِ»، فَأَتَى قَبْرَهُ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ.

✧ A black man—or a woman—used to sweep the mosque, then died, and the Prophet ﷺ was not informed of his death. One day he mentioned him and said: "What happened to that person?" They said, “He died, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: "Why did you not inform me?" They said that his story was such and such. He said that they considered his matter insignificant. He said: "Show me his grave," so he came to his grave and prayed over him.
