machine translationAyyūb al-Sakhtiyānī narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Ibn ʿUyaynah and Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated it from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf). ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿUmar Rustah narrated from Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah with this chain the saying: "If one of you sees a dream that he dislikes, let him pray two rakʿahs and not tell anyone of it, for it will not harm him," traced back to the Prophet ﷺ (marfūʿ). ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī narrated it from Ayyūb, traced back to the Prophet ﷺ, in full. Ḥamzah b. Abī Ḥamzah al-Naṣībī corroborated him on some of the wording in the hadith, so he traced it back from Ayyūb. Likewise it was narrated with a connected chain (musnad) from Ibn Sīrīn by Qatādah, Qurrah b. Khālid, Sālim al-Khayyāṭ, Yūnus b. ʿUbayd, Hishām b. Ḥassān, and ʿAwf al-Aʿrābī, and there is disagreement about him: Hawdhah b. Khalīfah traced it back from ʿAwf, while Ḥammād b. Masʿadah made it mawqūf from him. ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal narrated it from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, and made it mawqūf; and the version traced back to the Prophet ﷺ is sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
