✧ We came to Abu Hurayrah to greet him, and we said: "Narrate to us." He said: "I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for three years. There were never years in which I was more intelligent than in those, nor more desirous that I should retain what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. And I saw him saying with his hand: 'Shortly before the Hour, you will fight a people whose sandals are hair, and you will fight a people with red faces and small eyes, as if they were layered shields. By Allah, for one of you to go out in the morning, gather firewood on his back, sell it, and seek help from it and give charity from it, is better for him than coming to a man and asking him, who may give him or withhold from him. That is because the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin with those you support. And the breath of a fasting person is more fragrant to Allah than the scent of musk.'"
