حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، نَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الْأَصَمِّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

النَّاسُ مَعَادِنٌ كَمَعَادِنِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ، خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا، وَالْأَرْوَاحُ جُنُودٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ، فَمَا تَعَارَفَ مِنْهَا ائْتَلَفَ، وَمَا تَنَاكَرَ مِنْهَا اخْتَلَفَ

Translation

✧ People are mines like mines of gold and silver. The best of them in the pre-Islamic era are the best of them in Islam if they gain understanding. Souls are troops mustered together; those that recognized one another came together, and those that did not recognize one another parted.
