✧ Quraysh gathered before the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'Our slaves have joined you and entered with you into this affair though they are not worthy of it. Return them to us.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry until anger was seen on his face, then said: 'O assembly of Quraysh, you will desist, or Allah will surely send a man from among you whose heart Allah has tested with faith to strike your necks for the religion.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr?' He said: 'No.' It was said: 'Then 'Umar?' He said: 'No, but he is the mender of the sandal in the room.' 'Ali said: 'I was the mender of the sandal.' 'Ali said: The people asked 'Ali about that, and he said: 'Indeed, I heard him say: "Do not lie about me, for whoever lies about me deliberately, let him enter the Fire."
