What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThis ḥadīth is, according to all the people of ḥadīth, a rejected (munkar) ḥadīth, and it is an error.

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
  • Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn

machine translationAll the people narrated it from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as a mursal report. Muḥammad b. Faḍīl narrated it from al-Aʿmash and made a mistake in it. It is a weak (ḍaʿīf) ḥadīth, worthless; it is only from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid, mursal.

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
  • al-Bukhari

machine translationThis is what we mentioned earlier from al-Bukhārī, that Muḥammad b. Faḍīl made a mistake in connecting it.

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
  • al-Bukhari

machine translationThis ḥadīth of Muḥammad b. Faḍīl is an error; Ibn Faḍīl made a mistake in it.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationZāʾidah and ʿAbthar b. al-Qāsim contradicted him, and narrated it from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as his own statement, and that is the correct version.

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIt is not authentic as a connected report (musnad); Ibn Faḍīl and others erred in it. It is narrated from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as a mursal report, and that is more authentic.

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
  • Ibn al-Sakan

machine translationHe declared it sound (ṣaḥḥaḥahu).

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationThis is an error in which Ibn Faḍīl erred. The companions of al-Aʿmash narrate it from al-Aʿmash from Mujāhid as his own statement.

    in مسند البزار, p. 9212
