حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَا: نَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ: نَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْعِجْلِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُؤْمِنٍ قَالَ:

شَهِدْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ يَوْمَ قَتْلِ الْحَرُورِيَّةِ، وَأَنَا مَعَ مَوْلَايَ فَقَالَ: انْظُرُوا فَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ رَجُلًا إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ مِثْلُ ثَدْيِ الْمَرْأَةِ وَأَخْبَرَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنِّي صَاحِبُهُ، فَقَلَّبُوا الْقَتْلَى فَلَمْ يَجِدُوهُ وَقَالُوا: سَبْعَةُ نَفَرٍ تَحْتَ النَّخْلِ لَمْ نَقْلِبْهُمْ بَعْدُ، فَقَالَ: وَيْلَكُمُ انْظُرُوا. قَالَ أَبُو مُؤْمِنٍ: فَرَأَيْتُ فِي رِجْلَيْهِ حَبْلَيْنِ يَجُرُّونَهُ حَتَّى أَلْقَوْهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَخَرَّ عَلِيٌّ سَاجِدًا وَقَالَ: أَبْشِرُوا، قَتْلَاكُمْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَقَتْلَاهُمْ فِي النَّارِ

Translation

✧ I witnessed 'Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ on the day of the killing of the Haruriyya, while I was with my master. He said: 'Look, for among them is a man one of whose hands is like a woman's breast. The Prophet ﷺ informed me that I am his companion.' They turned over the slain but did not find him, and said: 'Seven individuals under the palm tree we have not yet turned over.' He said: 'Woe to you, look.' Abu Mu'min said: I saw two ropes on his legs, dragging him until they threw him before him. 'Ali fell down in prostration and said: 'Rejoice, your slain are in Paradise and their slain are in the Fire.'
