حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ قَالَ: نَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:
جَاءَ الْفُقَرَاءُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: ذَهَبَ الْأَغْنِيَاءُ بِالدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى وَالنَّعِيمِ الْمُقِيمِ ; فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ قَالُوا: يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي، وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ، وَلَهُمْ مَالٌ يَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَيُعْتِقُونَ وَلَا نَجِدُ. فَقَالَ: أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى أَمْرٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ لَمْ يَسْبِقْكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَلَمْ يَلْحَقْ بِكُمْ أَحَدٌ بَعْدَكُمْ إِلَّا مَنْ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، وَاحْمَدُوا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ، وَكَبِّرُوا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ. فَفَعَلُوا، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ الْأَغْنِيَاءَ فَفَعَلُوا مَا قَالَ الْفُقَرَاءُ ; فَعَادُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَدْ فَعَلْنَا الَّذِي أَمَرْتَنَا وَهُمْ يَفْعَلُونَ مَا نَفْعَلُ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ

✧ The poor came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "The wealthy have taken the high ranks and the enduring bliss." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And what is that?" They said: "They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and they have wealth by which they give charity and free slaves, and we cannot." He said: "Shall I not guide you to something which, if you do it, no one who came before you will surpass you, and no one after you will catch up with you, except one who does the like of what you do: say 'Glory be to Allah' thirty-three times after every prayer, praise Allah thirty-three times, and magnify Allah thirty-four times." They did so, and the wealthy learned of that and did what the poor said, so they returned to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we did what you commanded us, but they do what we do." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "That is the bounty of Allah, He gives it to whom He wills."
