machine translationIt is narrated by Simāk b. Ḥarb, and there is disagreement concerning him. Al-Naḍr b. Shumayl and Yazīd b. Hārūn raised it (marfūʿ) from Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Simāk, from ʿIkrimah, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ. But Sulaymān b. Ḥarb, Ḥajjāj b. Minhāl and Surayj b. al-Nuʿmān contradicted them: they narrated it from Ḥammād b. Salamah as a statement stopping at the Companion (mawqūf). ʿUmar also related it as mawqūf from Simāk. The mawqūf version is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
