machine translationIsrāʾīl narrated it as raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ) and Zuhayr narrated it as stopped at the Companion (mawqūf). Which of them is closer to the correct view: stopped (mawqūf) or raised (marfūʿ)? He said: God knows best. It is said that Zuhayr heard from Abū Isḥāq late, whereas Isrāʾīl's hearing from Abū Isḥāq was early, and Abū Isḥāq became confused late in life. So whoever heard from him late, his hearing is not of the best quality.
