✧ There is an hour on Friday during which no believing person asks Allah for good while he is in prayer—he considers it short—but He gives it to him. He said: When Abu Hurayrah died, I blamed myself for not having asked him about it. Then I said: This is Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, and he has earlier companionship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; perhaps I will find with him knowledge from the Messenger of Allah. I entered upon Abu Sa'id and I found him—I think—with date stalks in front of him. I said: What are these date stalks, O Abu Sa'id? He said: These are date stalks in which Allah has placed blessing for us, and the Prophet ﷺ used to lean on one, so we cut a stalk for him. While it was in his hand, he saw spittle in the mosque and scraped it with it, then he turned to the people and said: O people, when one of you is in prayer, let him not spit in front of him; let him spit to his left, or under his feet, and if he finds no place to spit—I think he said—then in his shoe or in his garment. He said: Then remain when you pray. When—I think he said—he prayed, he passed by him and he raised the stalk to him and said: Take it out, and if you see blackness in your house, strike it with it, for it is a devil. He did so. He said: I said: O Abu Sa'id, the hour on Friday? He said: We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, and he said: I knew it—I think he said—then I was made to forget it. He said: Then I left him until I came to the house of a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. He said: I said: This is a man who has read the Torah and accompanied the Prophet ﷺ. He said: I entered upon him and I said...
