حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي ثَلَاثًا فَأَعْطَانِي اثْنَتَيْنِ وَمَنَعَنِي وَاحِدَةً؛ سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي أَلَّا يُهْلِكَ أُمَّتِي بِالسِّنِينَ فَفَعَلَ، وَسَأَلْتُ رَبِّي أَلَّا يُهْلِكَ أُمَّتِي بَعْضَهَا بِبَعْضٍ فَمَنَعْنِيهَا، وَسَأَلْتُهُ أَلَّا يُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهَا عَدُوًّا مِنْ غَيْرِهَا فَفَعَلَ

✧ I asked my Lord for three things, and He granted me two and withheld one. I asked my Lord not to destroy my Ummah with drought, and He did that. I asked my Lord not to destroy my Ummah by making them fight each other, and He withheld that from me. And I asked Him not to give an enemy from outside them power over them, and He did that.
