✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ sent out an expedition, and they were men of military strength. He made each man among them recite the Quran — or he said: from the Quran. He came to a man who was the youngest of them in age and said: 'What do you have with you, O so-and-so?' He said: 'I have such-and-such and Surah al-Baqarah.' He said: 'You have Surah al-Baqarah with you?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then go — I think he said: — for you are their commander.' A man said: 'By God, O Messenger of God, nothing prevented me from learning the Quran except fear that I might not act upon it.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Recite it and sleep upon it, for the example of the Quran for one who learns it, recites it, and acts upon it is like a sack filled with musk whose fragrance spreads everywhere. And the example of one who learns it but sleeps while it is in his heart is like a sack tied over musk.'
