وَحَدَّثَنَا طُلَيْقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: نَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي أَنْ قَعَدْتُ خَلْفَ سَرِيَّةٍ تَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَلَكِنْ لَا أَجِدُ سَعَةً فَأَحْمِلَهُمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ سَعَةً فَيَتْبَعُونِي وَلَا تَطِيبُ أَنْفُسُهُمْ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا

Translation

✧ Were it not that I would burden my community, I would have stayed behind a detachment that raids in the path of God, but I do not find the means to carry them, and they do not find the means to follow me, and it does not please them to stay behind.
