✧ When God, Blessed and Exalted, willed to confine Yunus in the belly of the whale, God revealed to the whale: 'Do not scratch his flesh or break his bone.' So it took him and plunged with him to its dwelling place in the sea. When it reached the bottom of the sea with him, Yunus heard a sound, and he said to himself: 'What is this?' God, Blessed and Exalted, revealed to him while he was in the belly of the whale: 'This is the glorification of the creatures of the earth.' So he glorified while in the belly of the whale. The angels heard his glorification and said: 'Our Lord, we hear a faint voice in a foreign land.' God, Blessed and Exalted, said: 'That is My servant Yunus; he disobeyed Me, so I confined him in the belly of the whale in the sea.' They said: 'The righteous servant from whom a good deed used to ascend to You every day and night?' He said: 'Yes.' So they interceded for him at that, and He commanded the whale, and it cast him onto the shore as God, Blessed and Exalted, said: 'And he was ill.'
