حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: نَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتْرُكُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ، إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَاعْمَلُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ، وَمَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا
Translation

✧ O people, leave me as long as I leave you. Those before you were destroyed only because of their excessive questioning and their disagreements with their prophets. Whatever I command you, do as much of it as you can; and whatever I forbid you, desist.
