حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ابْنُ أَخِي وَكِيعٍ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، قَالَا: نَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالنَّاسِ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ، فَصَدَعَ النَّاسَ صَدْعَيْنِ، فَقَامَتْ طَائِفَةٌ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَطَائِفَةٌ بِحِذَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ، فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَنْ خَلْفَهُ - أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ - رَكْعَةً، وَسَجَدَ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، فَقَامُوا مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَى قَائِمًا رَجَعَ الَّذِينَ خَلْفَهُ وَرَاءَهُمْ، وَتَقَدَّمَ أُولَئِكَ - أَحْسَبُهُ - فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَسَجْدَتَيْنِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in the fear prayer. He divided the people into two groups. One group stood behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the other group stood facing the enemy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed one rak'ah with those behind him – I think he said – and prostrated twice with them. Then they stood up with him. When he stood upright, those behind him went back behind them, and those others came forward – I think – and he prayed one rak'ah with them and two prostrations.

He said: There is disagreement about it on the authority of ʿUrwah. Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr narrated it from ʿUrwah from Abū Hurayrah; Yūnus b. Bukayr said it from Muḥammad b. Isḥāq from Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr. Abū al-Aswad Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān contradicted him, narrating it from ʿUrwah from Marwān b. al-Ḥakam from Abū Hurayrah, and that is the closer to correct. It was also said, from Abū al-Aswad from ʿUrwah from Abū Hurayrah, that Marwān asked Abū Hurayrah. And it was said, from Muḥammad b. Isḥāq from Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr from ʿUrwah from ʿĀʾishah, may God be pleased with her.
