Translation

✧ “If you appoint Abu Bakr, you will find him abstinent in this world and desirous of the Hereafter. If you appoint Umar, you will find him strong and trustworthy; no blame of a blamer affects him concerning Allah. If you appoint Ali, you will find him guiding and guided; he will take you along the straight path. But you will not do so.”

  هو حديث يرويه زيد بن يثيع واختلف عنه فرواه أبو إسحاق واختلف عن أبي إسحاق أيضا فقال يونس بن أبي إسحاق وإسرائيل من رواية عبد الحميد بن أبي جعفر الفراء عنه وفضيل بن مرزوق وجميل الخياط عن أبي إسحاق عن زيد ابن يثيع عن علي وقال الحسن بن قتيبة عن يونس بن إسحاق عن أبي إسحاق عن زيد بن يثيع عن سلمان الفارسي وقال الثوري عن أبي إسحاق عن زيد بن يثيع عن حذيفة وقال شريك عن أبي إسحاق وعثمان أبي اليقظان عن أبي وائل عن حذيفة وقال إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن زيد بن يثيع مرسلا لم يذكر عليا ولا حذيفة والمرسل أشبه بالصواب
