✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
لَا يَصْبِرُ أَحَدٌ عَلَى لَأْوَائِهَا -، يَعْنِي الْمَدِينَةَ - وَجَهْدِهَا إِلَّا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَفِيعًا أَوْ شَهِيدًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَلَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا أَحَدٌ رَغْبَةً عَنْهَا إِلَّا أَبْدَلَ اللهُ فِيهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ، وَالْمَدِينَةُ خَيْرٌ لَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ، وَقَالَ: إِنَّهَا تَنْفِي الْخَبَثَ كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ
Translation

✧ No one endures its hardship—meaning Madinah—and its distress except that I will be an intercessor or a witness for him on the Day of Resurrection. And no one leaves it out of aversion to it except that Allah will replace in it someone better than him. And Madinah is better for them, if only they knew. And he said: It expels its impurities just as the bellows expel the impurities of iron.
