✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: نَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

أُتِيَ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالُوا: عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: انْطَلِقُوا بِصَاحِبِكُمْ فَصَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: عَلَيَّ دَيْنُهُ فَصْلِّ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ

✧ A funeral was brought, and he stood up to pray over it, but they said: 'He owes a debt.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Take your companion away and pray over him.' A man said: 'His debt is upon me, so pray over him.' The Messenger of God ﷺ stood up and prayed over him.
