✧ Do you dispute about the moon on a full-moon night when there is no cloud beneath it? They said, 'No.' He said, 'Do you dispute about the sun when there is no cloud beneath it?' They said, 'No.' He said, 'You will see Him likewise. People will be held back on the Day of Resurrection, then it will be said: Whoever used to worship something, let him follow it. Some will follow the sun, some the moon, and some the false deities. This ummah will remain, including its hypocrites. Then He, Blessed and Exalted, will come to them and say: I am your Lord. They will say: You are our Lord. Then the sirat will be set up over the midst of Hell, and I will be the first of the messengers to cross with my ummah. None will speak that day except the messengers, and the messengers' supplication that day will be: O Allah, grant peace, grant peace. In Hell there will be hooks like the thorns of al-sa'dan. Have you seen the thorns of al-sa'dan? They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'They are like the thorns of al-sa'dan. They will snatch people according to their deeds. Some will be cut to pieces (or he said: maimed), and some will be saved. Then when Allah, Blessed and Exalted, wills mercy for whomever He wills of the people of the Fire, He will command the angels to bring out those who worshipped Allah. They will bring them out, recognizing them by the marks of prostration. Allah has forbidden the Fire to consume the mark of prostration. They will come out of the Fire charred. Then the water of life will be poured on them, and they will sprout as a seed sprouts in the silt of a flood. Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will finish judging between the servants. While a man is between Paradise and the Fire—he is the last of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise—turning his face toward the Fire, he will say: O Lord, turn my face away from the Fire, for its smell has afflicted me and its heat has burned me. He, Blessed and Exalted, will say: Would you perhaps, if I do that for you, ask Me for something else? He will say: No, by Your might. And he will give his Lord whatever covenant and pledge He wills. So Allah will turn his face away from the Fire. When he faces Paradise and sees its splendor, he will remain silent as long as Allah wills him to remain silent. Then he will say: O Lord, bring me forward to the gate of Paradise. Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say: Did you not give covenants and pledges that you would not ask for anything other than what you asked? He will say: O Lord, do not make me the most wretched of Your creation. He will say: Would you perhaps, if I give you that, ask Me for something else? He will say: No, by Your might, I will not ask You for anything else. And he will give his Lord whatever covenant and pledge He wills. So Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will bring him forward to the gate of Paradise. When he reaches its gate, it will open for him, and he will see its splendor and what is in it of freshness and joy, and he will remain silent as long as Allah wills him to remain silent. Then he will say: O Lord, admit me into Paradise. He, Blessed and Exalted, will say: O son of Adam, how treacherous you are! You have given covenants and pledges that you would not ask for anything other than what you were given. He will say: O Lord, do not make me the most wretched of Your creation. Then He, Blessed and Exalted, will laugh at him, then permit him to enter Paradise. Then He will say: Wish. He will wish, until when his wishes are exhausted, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will say: Thus—his Lord will remind him—until when his wishes come to an end, Allah, Exalted, will say: You shall have that and the like of it with it.' Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'That and ten times the like of it.' Abu Hurayrah said: I did not memorize from the Messenger of Allah except that he said: 'You shall have that and the like of it with it.' Abu Sa'id said: I testify that I heard him say: 'You shall have that and ten times the like of it.' This hadith was narrated by Ma'mar, Ibrahim b. Sa'd, and others, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ata' b. Yazid, from Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa'id. We do not know anyone who combined 'Ata' b. Yazid and Sa'id b. al-Musayyib except Shu'ayb b. Abi Hamzah and Mu'awiyah b. Yahya al-Sadafi. They both agreed on Sa'id b. al-Musayyib and 'Ata' b. Yazid, and Shu'ayb is more reliable.
