✧ Two women from Hudhayl fought, and one of them threw a stone at the other, killing her and the child in her womb. They brought the dispute about the blood money to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he said: The blood money for her fetus is a slave, male or female. He ruled that the blood money was to be paid by her ʿāqilah (paternal relatives), and he made her child her heir. Ḥamal b. Mālik said: How can I pay for one who did not drink, eat, speak, or cry out? Should the like of that be wasted? The Prophet ﷺ said: This man is one of the brothers of the soothsayers — because of the rhymed prose he used.
