وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ
أَنَّهُ رَأَى عَلِيًّا ؓ فِي الرَّحَبَةِ تَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ، ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا، وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، وَرَأْسَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَشَرِبَ فَضْلَ وَضُوئِهِ، وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ، وَقَالَ: أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُرِيَكُمْ كَيْفَ كَانَ طُهُورُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

✧ He saw Ali ؓ in the open courtyard performing ablution: he washed his palms, then rinsed his mouth three times, sniffed water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, and his forearms three times each, and his head three times, and washed his feet up to the ankles three times each. Then he stood and drank the leftover water of his ablution while standing, and said: I wanted to show you how the purification of the Prophet ﷺ was.
