  1. Anas b. Mālik
  2. Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

✧ Jibril ﷺ came to me with a white mirror in his hand, in which there was a black spot. I said, 'What is this, O Jibril?' He said, 'This is Friday. Your Lord has made it obligatory for you, so that it may be a festival for you — or for your people after you. You will be the first, and the Jews and Christians will come after you.' He said, 'What do we have in it?' He said, 'You have good in it. In it there is an hour in which no servant supplicates his Lord for good that is allotted to him except that He gives it to him, or if it is not allotted to him, something greater is stored for him, or he seeks refuge in it from evil that is written against him except that He protects him from something greater than it.' He said, 'What is this black spot in it?' He said, 'It is the Hour that will occur on Friday. It is the master of days with us, and we call it in the Hereafter the Day of Increase.' He said, 'Why do you call it the Day of Increase?' He said, 'Your Lord, Mighty and Majestic, has taken in Paradise a valley of white musk, wide and open. When Friday comes, the Blessed and Exalted descends from 'Illiyyin to His Throne, then the Throne is surrounded with pulpits of light, and the prophets come and sit upon them. Then the pulpits are surrounded with chairs of gold, and the truthful ones and martyrs come and sit upon them. Then the people of Paradise come and sit upon the mound, and their Lord, Blessed and Exalted, manifests Himself to them until they look at His face, and He says: "I am the One who fulfilled My promise to you and completed My favor upon you. This is the place of My honor, so ask Me." They ask Him for contentment, and He, Mighty and Majestic, says: "My contentment has brought you into My abode and granted you My honor, so ask Me." They ask Him until their desires are exhausted, and at that time there is opened for them what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has imagined, until the time people depart from Friday. Then the Blessed and Exalted ascends upon His Throne, and with Him ascend the martyrs and the truthful ones — I think he said — and the people of the chambers return to their chambers of white pearl, neither cracked nor broken, or of red ruby, or of green chrysolite, from which their chambers and doors are made, with rivers flowing through them and fruits hanging down, and their spouses and servants therein. They are in need of nothing more than Friday, so that they may be increased in honor and look more upon His face, Blessed and Exalted, and for that reason it is called the Day of Increase.' This hadith has been narrated by a group, including Ibrahim b. Tahman, Muhammad b. Fudayl, and others, from Layth, from 'Uthman b. 'Umayr, from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ.
