حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، نَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ:
دَخَلْتُ مَعَ جَدِّي أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ إِلَى الْحَكَمِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ فَإِذَا قَوْمٌ قَدْ نَصَبُوا دَجَاجَةً يَرْمُونَهَا فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ تُصْبَرَ الْبَهَائِمُ

✧ I entered with my grandfather Anas b. Malik upon al-Hakam b. Ayyub, and there were people who had set up a chicken as a target and were shooting at it. Anas said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that animals be made to suffer.'
