حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ آدَمَ ابْنُ بِنْتِ أَزْهَرَ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، نَا أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ، أَوْ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا جَاءَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ حَائِطِي لِلهِ وَلَوِ اسْتَطَعْتُ أَنْ أُسِرَّهُ لَمْ أُعْلِنْهُ، قَالَ: اجْعَلْهُ فِي فُقَرَاءِ أَهْلِكَ، أَوْ قَرَابَتِكَ فَجَعَلَهُ لِحَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَأُبَيٍّ
Translation

✧ When this verse was revealed: 'You will not attain righteousness until you spend from what you love,' or 'Who is it that will lend Allah a goodly loan?' Abu Talhah came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my garden is for Allah, and if I could have kept it secret I would not have made it public.' He said: 'Place it among the poor of your family or your relatives.' So he gave it to Hassan b. Thabit and Ubayy.
