حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ اللهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ مَرْجِعَهُ مِنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَهُوَ مُخَالِطُهُمُ الْحُزْنُ وَالْكَآبَةُ فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيَّ آيَةٌ هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا جَمِيعًا فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا يُفْعَلُ بِكَ قَالَ: فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: لِيُدْخِلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ عَظِيمًا

Translation

✧ When this verse was revealed: 'Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive your past and future sins' (Qur'an 48:1-2), on his return from al-Hudaybiyyah, while sadness and gloom were mixed with them, he said: 'A verse has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the whole world.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we know what will be done with you.' He said: Then this verse was revealed: 'So that He may admit the believing men and believing women...' up to the words '...a mighty reward' (Qur'an 48:5).
