حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، نَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ، نَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَادَ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ، فَقَالَ: يَا خَالُ، قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ قَالَ: أَخَالٌ أَمْ عَمٌّ ؟ قَالَ: بَلْ خَالٌ، قَالَ: وَخَيْرٌ لِي أَنْ أَقُولَهَا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ visited a man from the Banū al-Najjār and said, "O uncle, say: Lā ilāha illā Allāh (There is no god but God)." He said, "Is it uncle or paternal uncle?" He said, "Rather, uncle." He said, "And is it better for me to say it?" He said, "Yes."
