✧ When the Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah, ʿAbd Allāh b. Rawāḥah walked in front of the Messenger of God ﷺ saying: “Clear the way, sons of the disbelievers, from his path. Today we strike you upon its interpretation, just as we struck you upon its revelation—a strike that removes the head from its resting place, and makes the friend forget his friend...” ʿUmar ؓ said, “O Ibn Rawāḥah, in front of the Messenger of God and in the sanctuary of God you recite poetry?” He said, “Leave him, for by Him in whose hand is my soul, this is harder on them than the striking of swords.”
