حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، نَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ:

أَنَّهُ وَاصَلَ فَوَاصَلَ نَاسٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَوْ مُدَّ لِي الشَّهْرُ لَوَاصَلْتُ وِصَالًا يَدَعُ الْمُتَعَمِّقُونَ تَعَمُّقَهُمْ، إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

Translation

✧ That he observed continuous fasting, and some of the people also observed continuous fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If the month were extended for me, I would fast continuously in a way that would make those who go to extremes abandon their extremism. I am not like you; I remain in a state where my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.'
