✧ The Basrans from Anas

وَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، نَا رَوْحٌ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

أَنَّ نَفَرًا ثَمَانُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ هَبَطُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ جَبَلِ التَّنْعِيمِ عِنْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ، فَأَخَذَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سِلْمًا، فَعَفَا عَنْهُمْ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: وَهُوَ الَّذِي كَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنْكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ الْآيَةَ

Translation

✧ A group of eighty men from the people of Makkah descended upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the mountain of al-Tan'im at the time of the Fajr prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took them as captives of war, then he pardoned them. Then Allah, Blessed and Exalted, revealed: 'And it is He who restrained their hands from you and your hands from them' (Quran 48:24), the verse.
