نَا ابْنُ مُثَنَّى، نَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

كَانَ لِأُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ابْنٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ: أَبُو عُمَيْرٍ فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رُبَّمَا مَازَحَهُ فَدَخَلَ يَوْمًا فَوَجَدَهُ حَزِينًا، فَقَالَ: مَا بَالُ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ ؟ قَالُوا: مَاتَ نُغَيْرُهُ الَّذِي كَانَ يَلْعَبُ بِهِ، فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ مَا فَعَلَ النُّغَيْرُ ؟

✧ Umm Sulaym had a son called Abu 'Umayr. The Prophet ﷺ would sometimes joke with him. One day he entered and found him sad, so he said: 'What is the matter with Abu 'Umayr?' They said: 'His little bird that he used to play with has died.' He began to say: 'Abu 'Umayr, what happened to the little bird?'
