حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ أَنَسًا عَنِ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَقَالَ: كَانَتَا مِنْ مَشَاعِرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ الْإِسْلَامُ أَمْسَكْنَا عَنْهُمَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ: إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا.

✧ I asked Anas about al-Safa and al-Marwa, and he said: 'They were among the rites of the Jahiliyyah. When Islam came, we refrained from them, and Allah revealed: "Indeed, al-Safa and al-Marwa are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever performs Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, there is no blame upon him to go between them."'
