✧ The poor believers complained to the Messenger of God ﷺ about what their wealthy were favored with. They said: 'O Messenger of God, our brothers have believed as we believe, and have faith as we have faith, and fast as we fast, but they have wealth from which they give charity, maintain kinship ties, and spend in the path of God, while we are poor and unable to do that.' He said: 'Shall I not tell you something which, if you do it, you will attain the like of their virtue? Say after every prayer: Allahu akbar eleven times, and al-hamdu lillah the like of that, and la ilaha illa Allah the like of that, and subhan Allah the like of that — you will attain the like of their virtue.' They did so, then mentioned that to the wealthy, who also did the like of that. The poor returned to the Messenger of God ﷺ and mentioned that to him, saying: 'These are our brothers; they have done the like of what we say.' He said: 'That is the bounty of God; He gives it to whom He wills. O company of the poor, shall I not give you glad tidings? The poor Muslims will enter Paradise half a day before their wealthy — five hundred years.' Musa b. Ubayda recited: 'And indeed a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of what you count.'
