Translation

✧ Muhammad b. al-Muthanna narrated to us: Marhum b. 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated to us: Dawud—meaning Ibn 'Abd al-Rahman—narrated to us, from Musa b. 'Uqbah. And Ayyub b. Sulayman narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman b. Mushir narrated to us: Sa'id b. Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet ﷺ, similar to the hadith of Yahya b. Sa'id, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar. We do not know of anyone who narrated this hadith from Yahya b. Sa'id, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar except Yazid b. Harun and Ibn Numayr. People only narrate it from Yahya, from Nafi', as mursal. And we do not know of anyone who narrated it from Musa b. 'Uqbah except Dawud b. 'Abd al-Rahman, and he is weak. The hadith is only narrated by 'Ubayd Allah and al-Hajjaj, from Nafi', from Ibn Ka'b b. Malik, from his father. That is the correct version.

machine translationThere is disagreement about it concerning Nāfiʿ and his students. There is disagreement about it concerning ʿUbaydullāh, Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, Ayyūb, Ismāʿīl b. Umayyah, Mūsā b. ʿUqbah, and others. It was also said concerning it, "from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar," but that is not sound (ṣaḥīḥ), and the disagreement about it is great.
