حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَحْرٍ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ أَبُو يَعْلَى، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ:
مَاتَ ابْنٌ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ: يَا كُرَيْبُ اخْرُجْ فَانْظُرْ هَلِ اجْتَمَعَ لِابْنِي أَحَدٌ، فَخَرَجْتُ فَقُلْتُ: قَدِ اجْتَمَعَ أَرْبَعُونَ أَوْ أَكْثَرُ، فَقَالَ: أَخْرِجُوهُ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَا مِنْ مَيِّتٍ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعُونَ أَوْ أَكْثَرُ فَيَشْفَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَّا شُفِّعُوا فِيهِ
Translation

✧ A son of Ibn 'Abbas died, and he said, 'O Kurayb, go out and see if anyone has gathered for my son.' I went out and said, 'Forty or more have gathered.' He said, 'Bring him out, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "There is no deceased person over whom forty or more pray, interceding for him, except that their intercession is accepted for him."'
