Chain of narrators
  1. Muḥammad b. al-Walīd al-Faḥḥām
  2. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb

✧ Thawr narrated to us, from Makhul, from Kurayb, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet ﷺ. We do not know anyone who narrated this hadith from Thawr except Abd al-Wahhab b. Ata', and we do not know anyone who agreed with him in its transmission, and we do not know it being narrated from Ibn Abbas except through this route, and we do not know that Makhul attributed to Kurayb any hadith other than this one. Abd al-Wahhab was from Basra, then moved to Baghdad; nothing was written from him in Basra. He came to Baghdad and narrated, and one of his companions informed me that he wrote to his family: 'He has written from me, so praise God.' This hadith, in my view, has no basis, and I think he narrated it during the days of al-Rashid because the latter gave him something.
