حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي وَحْشِيَّةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

كَانُوا يَكْرَهُونَ أَنْ يَرْضَخُوا لِأَنْسَابِهِمْ وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ فَنَزَلَتْ: لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَاهُمْ، حَتَّى بَلَغَ: وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُمْ

✧ They used to dislike giving to their relatives while they were polytheists, so it was revealed: "It is not upon you to guide them," until He reached: "And whatever good you spend, Allah knows it well," so He permitted them.
