حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا حَسَنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، قَالَ: نَا خَطَّابُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَطُوفُ فِي النَّخْلِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ: فِيهَا صَاعٌ فِيهَا وَسْقٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: فِيهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ فَمَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ عَنِ اللهِ فَهُوَ حَقٌّ، وَمَا قُلْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِي فَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أُخْطِئُ وَأُصِيبُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was inspecting the palm trees in Madinah, and people began saying: “In it there is a sa'.” “In it there is a wasq.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “In it there is such-and-such.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I am only a human. Whatever I tell you from Allah is true, but whatever I say on my own, I am only a human: I err and I am right.”
