حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:
كَانَتْ مَوْلَاةٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَصُومُ النَّهَارَ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّهَا تَصُومُ النَّهَارَ وَتَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ لِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ شِرَّةً، وَالشِّرَّةُ إِلَى فَتْرَةٍ، فَمَنْ كَانَتْ فَتْرَتُهُ إِلَى سُنَّتِي فَقَدِ اهْتَدَى، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فَتْرَتُهُ إِلَى غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ

✧ A freedwoman of the Prophet ﷺ used to fast the day, so it was said to him: “She fasts the day and stands in prayer at night.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Every deed has a zeal, and zeal leads to a period of slackness. Whoever’s slackness is toward my Sunnah has been guided, and whoever’s slackness is toward something else has gone astray.”
