✧ There were Qurayẓah and al-Naḍīr; al-Naḍīr was nobler than Qurayẓah. If a man of Qurayẓah killed a man of al-Naḍīr, he was killed for it, but if a man of al-Naḍīr killed a man of Qurayẓah, they said: ‘Hand him over to us and we will kill him.’ They said: ‘Between us and you is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.’ So they came to him, and it was revealed: ‘And if you judge, judge between them with justice,’ and justice means a life for a life. Then it was revealed: ‘Is it the judgment of ignorance they seek?’
