✧ Hamran, the freed slave of Uthman

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ حُمْرَانَ، قَالَ:

نُودِيَ يَوْمًا بِالصَّلَاةِ وَأَنَا مَعَ عُثْمَانَ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ ؓ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَيُحْسِنُ الْوُضُوءَ، ثُمَّ يَرُوحُ إِلَى صَلَاةٍ مَكْتُوبَةٍ إِلَّا كَانَتْ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الَّتِي تَلِيهَا

Translation

✧ One day the call to prayer was given while I was with Uthman. Uthman ؓ said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "No Muslim performs ablution and perfects it, then goes to an obligatory prayer, except that it is an expiation for what occurred between it and the next prayer."
