حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَا: نَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: نَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ -:

" لَنْ يُبْتَلَى عَبْدٌ بِشَيْءٍ أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ بِاللهِ، وَلَنْ يُبْتَلَى عَبْدٌ بِشَيْءٍ بَعْدَ الشِّرْكِ بِاللهِ أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ ذَهَابِ بَصَرِهِ، وَلَنْ يُبْتَلَى عَبْدٌ بِذَهَابِ بَصَرِهِ فَيَصْبِرُ إِلَّا غُفِرَ لَهُ

Translation

✧ A servant will never be tested with anything more severe than associating partners with God. And after associating partners with God, a servant will never be tested with anything more severe than losing his sight. And no servant is tested with losing his sight and remains patient except that he is forgiven.
