machine translationAl-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Aʿmash narrated it from al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ, and there is disagreement about him as well. ʿAlī b. Mushir, Jarīr, Wakīʿ, Abū Muʿāwiyah, Yaḥyā al-Qaṭṭān, Zuhayr b. Muʿāwiyah, Yaḥyā b. Abī Zāʾidah, Jaʿfar b. ʿAwn, Shuʿbah, al-Thawrī, ʿUbaydah b. Ḥumayd, Ibn Numayr, Abān b. Taghlib and Isrāʾīl all narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ, from Tamīm b. Ṭarafah, from Jābir b. Samurah. There is disagreement about ʿAbthar: Abū Ḥuṣayn ʿAbdullāh b. Aḥmad b. Yūnus narrated it from ʿAbthar, from al-Aʿmash, with this chain. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar contradicted him and narrated it from ʿAbthar, from al-Aʿmash, from al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ, from Zayd b. Wahb, from Tamīm b. Ṭarafah, from Jābir b. Samurah. The mention of Zayd b. Wahb in it is a mistake (wahm). Masʿūd b. Saʿd al-Juʿfī and Abū Isḥāq al-Fazārī narrated it from al-Aʿmash, from al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ, from Jābir b. Samurah, and they did not mention Tamīm in it. Likewise ʿIyāḍ b. Bahdalah narrated it from al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ, from Jābir b. Samurah, without mentioning Tamīm b. Ṭarafah. The first is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
