machine translationWe do not know this hadith to be narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with this wording except through this route with this chain. Rishdīn b. Saʿd was not a retentive memorizer (ḥāfiẓ), though Ibn al-Mubārak and those after him narrated from him and tolerated his hadith. As for ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ziyād, his hadith likewise does not indicate that he was a memorizer (ḥāfiẓ), because his hadith contains objectionable reports (manākīr), although he was one of the intelligent men and people narrated from him. Neither Rishdīn nor ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ziyād is a proof (ḥujjah) in a hadith when the two of them are alone in narrating it, nor is either one of them when he is alone in narrating a hadith.
