✧ We fasted with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the month of Ramadan, and he did not lead us in night prayer until seven nights remained. Then he led us in prayer until a third of the night had passed, or about that. Then he did not lead us on the fourth night. He led us on the fifth night until about half the night had passed. We said, “O Messenger of Allah, if only you would let us pray the rest of our night as voluntary.” He said, “When a man prays with the imam until he finishes, the rest of his night is recorded for him.” Then he did not lead us on the sixth night. He led us on the seventh night, and he sent for his family and wives, and they gathered. He led us in prayer until we feared we would miss the falah.” I said, “What is the falah?” He said, “The pre-dawn meal.”
